Grafham Water Centre organises a number of instructor training programmes to encourage the development of appropriate skills and approaches in a variety of disciplines.
These courses are taught following the syllabus of the relevant National Governing Body and can be taken as part of our Fast Track Programme or individually.

This CPD day is based around a series of workshops designed to improve your bushcraft knowledge and skills. The Workshops are: Confident Fire Lighting - Enhance your ability to get a fire established in the cold/damp by understanding better what is required in order for a fire to thrive. A little bit of know how goes a long way! Working with Natural Materials - Some materials are very flexible, some less so. By understanding more about what is around you, you will be able to make a variety of simple products with confidence. Tarps, Bashas and Knots - Learn how to confidently work with the resources you have to set up and secure simple shelters adapting to different scenarios. Bushcraft Games - Using simple items and a bit of imagination create endless creative fun as well as productive learning.

This day long course is for experienced SPA or CWA qulified climbing instructors who wish to teach lead climbing on artificial climbing walls. Candidates must be able to lead climb F6a on sight and take good falls on the lead. This course looks at risk assessment, coaching, teaching strategies and duty of care as well as falling and dynamic belaying.
