+British Canoeing Foundation Safety and Rescue Training

British Canoeing Foundation Safety & Rescue Training assessment provides safety awareness and rescue skills to enhance water competence. This is a prerequisite for taking British Canoeing Coach Awards at Level 1 and 2. You must have achieved the standard of BCU 2 Star competence to attend this course. You must also be able to swim in normal paddling clothing suitable for the prevailing condition and be a minimum of 14 years of age. A first aid certificate is not a pre requisite, however the holding of a first aid certificate is strongly recommended for all paddlers. Please call the Centre for further information.

+MT.UK Climbing Wall Award (CWA) Training

The CWA covers the supervision and management of activities such as bouldering, the teaching and coaching of basic movement skills and roped climbing (excluding the teaching of leading). The course is run on a Saturday/Sunday, with 12 hours training contact time. If you would like to find out more about the CWA, please visit the MLTE website.

+RYA Powerboat Instructor

The Powerboat Instructor is a competent, experienced powerboater who has been trained to teach powerboating up to Level 2 under the supervision of the Principal or Chief Instructor of a recognised centre. Candidates should have logged at least five seasons' experience of powerboating, preferably in a range of boat types and sizes. For those who use powerboats as an integral part of their normal full-time occupation, this period is reduced to one season.

Candidates must hold the RYA's Level 2 powerboat certificate and a valid first aid certificate. No candidate under the age of 16 will be accepted for training. This course includes a skills assessment day on the first day of the course. Details can be found on the RYA website.
